Busy, busy, busy

Busy everyday, so no much time in general. Now since my analyses are running and I have to wait for results [and it will take a while…] I can finally give some update. Last months my hard work finally started to pay off. I visited two conferences: one genetic and one respiratory. The first one was ESHG (European Society of Human Genetics) held in Goteborg, Sweden in June this year. I presented a poster there with an overview of genome-wide association study performed on obstructive phenotype, which met some interest and I could discuss problems I had with people working on similar topics. Overall the meeting was excellent in all aspects and I enjoyed it very much. The second conference was ERS (European Respiratory Society) held in Barcelona, just three weeks ago and to my surprise, despite it was bigger than ESHG it was even nicer and there were more interactions, not only during my poster presentation. The poster itself caught a lot of attention mainly because its focus was a genetic comparison of two COPD features, which are obstruction and emphysema, on a genome-wide scale, which is unique. I had many visitors asking questions, giving helpful comments as well as initiating new collaborations! It was all very nice, reassuring and exciting! So I charged my batteries there and now I work even harder. I have no choice as more collaboration means more side-projects, mean more work! Which is good thing of course, as it is always nice to be a part of ‘something big’ and contribute to new discoveries that may result in interesting articles!

Oops! Analyses are finished! Time to go ;-)
