COPACETIC database is complete
Data collection in COPACETIC closed at December 2008. The database is now complete.
The COPACETIC dataset contains data of 3775 subjects with 6136 pulmonary function tests. The University Medical Centre Utrecht, the Netherlands provided 1817 subjects, the University Medical Center Groningen, the Netherlands 1958 subjects.
Repeated spirometry is available in 624 of the ‘Utrecht’ subjects and in 1630 of the ‘Groningen’ subjects. The average time between these measurements is close to 3 years. Diffusion capacity measurements were taken in 1037 of the Utrecht subjects.
For all subjects in the genome-wide association study, both a pulmonary function test and CT-scan are present.
Dependent on the centre, 53%-58% of the included subjects are current smokers and one individual smoked ~40 pack years. Approximately 1/3 of all included subjects have an FEV1/FVC ratio <0.70, irrespective of smoking status. The mean FEV1/FVC in Utrecht and Groningen is resp 71% and 74%. Preliminary analysis showed a mean FEVĀ1-decline of 54 ml/year for ex-smokers and 65 ml/year for current smokers.
