Participating countries

Different countries in Europe collaborate in this project.

COPACETIC is the large project of a team of researchers from five European countries. The project is managed from the Netherlands, to be precise by a group of researchers at the University Medical Centre in Utrecht led by Dr. Pieter Zanen. The researchers in Utrecht collaborate closely with the University Medical Centre in Groningen.

First a large group of Dutch smokers will be evaluated to see whether genetic differences can be found between smokers with and without COPD (see button COPACETIC).

Subsequently they will test those differences in groups of smokers in other countries.

This will be done in collaboration with researchers in Denmark (Copenhagen University Hospital), Germany (University of Heidelberg), Poland (Jagiellonian University Medical Centre) and Sweden (AstraZeneca).

COPACETIC is a large European project and receives subsidy from the European Union.
